Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. What are some of the main points you read about in the website above regarding manipulating images?

How much photoshop has been changed or used, how we should handle it (legally), and some popular uses of it.

B. What is the philosophy of newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York Times regarding image manipulation?

They have strict guidelines for their photographers and allows no colors to be altered.

C. What do you think are acceptable things you could do to an image and not cross the line unto an unethical manipulation?

I think changing the colors like shading or adding more color is alright. Nothing too much to change the photo much, though.

D. This image manipulation is the most unethical because in the image, without the man's hand up, he looks like he is threatening the people instead of helping them. The editors also edited so each person looked scared of the man, sending the wrong message to the viewer.

E. This image manipulation is the least unethical because the people are just cropping others into the photo. The families most likely have no way of getting together and just want to see them together. Unless it's used in a negative aspect, or anything involving the political field, it's a bad manipulation.
