Dovima with elephants, evening dress by Dior, Cirque d'Hiver, Paris, August 1955

1. Why did you pick this image? What caught your eye?
I loved how elegant and delicate the woman looked along side the elephants. Her dress even looks as though it were made of silk. The elephants just add to it- like she is taming a large beast.

2. Summarize what you read. How about 2-3 sentences explaining the photo.
Dovima was one of the most famous models and now that women were posing as "next door neighbors" instead of such a delicate beauty- the photographer wanted to capture the old times. But the photographer didn't just focus on the dress but also the model, which is the opposite of what fashion shots were about.
3.  The dress was made specifically for this shoot when the photographer saw the elephants under a skylight.

4. Look up the photographer. Post this famous image of theirs PLUS one more of theirs that catches your eye.
