How to make great portraits

I looked at multiple examples of amazing portraits of people and how to recreate some of these! They mostly have to do with getting to know the subject to make the photo perfect.
What did you learn new?
The personality of a subject heavily influences the photo, like a shy person should probably be in their house on their favorite chair, or if they're an athletic person then they'll want something with their athletic equipment.

I picked this photo because of how relaxed it was. I can already see a lot about the woman! She seems a bit interested about something, maybe the viewer, especially with how she looks back with such intimacy.
